Residence La Mason hopes for the best stay for its customers, which is why we suggest you visit the Castles of Romeo and Juliet!
A few kilometers from our locations in the province of Vicenza, precisely in Montecchio Maggiore, there are the evocative castles of Romeo and Juliet. Around the mid-1300s Cangrande II della Scala had these two castles built which were destroyed by the Republic of Venice 200 years ago After. They remained unused and decaying until 1742 when the municipality of Montecchio Maggiore purchased them and began restoration.
The first castle you come across along the road is that of “Romeo”, smaller in size, but rich in history and events that enliven it.
Juliet’s castle now houses a restaurant which is also dedicated to involving more people by starting evening events especially in the summer!
Entrance to both castles is free and free and consumption at the restaurant located in Juliet’s Castle is not necessary to access it.
Romeo Castle opening hours are as follows:
Saturday: from 3pm to 6.30pm
Sundays and holidays: 10.00am-12.30pm / 3.00pm-6.30pm
The opening hours of the Castelli restaurant:
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 10:00 – 15:00 and 17:00 – 00:00

If you are in Vicenza or are staying in our residence, don’t miss this experience!
If you have read up to this point we want to give you further advice, in the basement of Juliet’s Castle there is a complex of underground quarries called “Le Priare” from which the stone was obtained, but this work which had now become obsolete was replaced from another function during the Second World War: “Le Priare” became a refuge for the local population. But its history is much older, go and discover it! For info, prices and timetables visit the Montecchio Maggiore Proloco website.
