The Jewellery Museum of Vicenza

In Piazza dei Signori, in the heart of the city, the Jewellery Museum of Vicenza collects 310 unique pieces. This space aims to tell the story of the jewel and its evolution over time, to describe its contemporaneity and to imagine its future transformations.

The Jewelled Sculptures of Salvador Dalì

On the occasion of VicenzaOro 2019, the Jewellery Museum presents the temporary exhibition “Precious Art: The Jewelled Sculptures of Salvador Dalì”. From 7 September 2019 to 20 January 2020, in fact, it will be possible to admire some of the Sapnish artist’s creations. Converted into jewellery, his works get three-dimensional and become everyday objects, although extremely precious and mysterious.

The exhibition displays eighteen sculptures made between 1949 and 1979 and is divided into three sections. In the first part, visitors will be able to admire the Dalì d’Or-Objets Montés, ten works dating back to the 1960s, created by assembling the collection of Dalì’s pure gold coins.
The second section is dedicated to jewelled sculptures, made by the most talented Italian goldsmiths: Dalì’s most emblematic motifs, such as watches, angels and ballerinas, turn into 18k gold jewels, studded with precious stones.
The last part of the exhibition presents the silver sculptures: the salient piece of this section is undoubtedly the “Profile of Time”, which recalls one of the artist’s most famous and appreciated paintings, The Persistence of Memory, where the famous soft melting pocket watch appeared for the first time.
